This is the first issue of SAM Research Newsletter. Statistics & More (SAM) is a research organization which aims to provide timely, accurate and reliable research about public safety & security, natural and humanitarian disasters, global threats, geo-political dynamics and poverty. Our world is facing currently with too many threats; There are too many conflicts going on at different regions, 40% of the world population is living with less than US$2.5 per day, everyday over 20,000 people dies hunger related causes, millions of people can’t reach basic food and health services and live without any shelter, refugee population is at record levels, and number of terrorist organizations highest ever.

EDITOR’S NOTE

This special issue is prepared in the memory of the innocent people killed at terrorist attacks in Paris, Lebanon, Egypt (Russian aircraft crash) and Ankara. More than five hundred persons were killed in those attacks by IS and its allies. The responsibility of Russian plane crash on 31 October in Egypt has been claimed by IS, as claim confirmed by Russia on 17th of November. It is clear now that terrorist groups are directly targeting the daily life and civilians. They want to show that we are not safe or secure anywhere.
